Blogging – A Step by Step Guide for Everyone

Blogging is a very popular method of earning money and gaining some influences on the Internet these days.

However, if you wish to succeed through this business model, you must see it accordingly.

In this article we will focus on all the aspect you need to know if you want to start blogging.

Let’s begin, shall we?

At first, blogging would seem like it is someone’s hobby, and it is!

But let’s not forget than blogging is a business model itself.

Therefore, every blogger must think of certain business aspects before starting.

This is the point where you should consider having your own LLC ( Limited Liability Company).

Why do that?

It’s simple. It’s all about taxes & avoiding tax evasion.

Plus, by starting your LLC you gain 3 huge benefits to your blog:

  • You protect its assets
  • Increase tax options
  • Create a credible business

Now that you know why to start an LLC, let’s see how you can form an LLC.

An LLC is a business structure that combines the limited liability protection of a corporation with the simplicity and pass-through taxation of a sole proprietorship.

Limited Liability protects a business owner’s assets the business is sued or defaults on debts.

In the US the only fee is the state filling fee, which starts at $40 and can go up to a few hundred dollars.

Do you need an LLC for your blog?

As I mentioned before, yes, it would be a good idea to protect your assets and leave your “mark” on your blog.

This also involves author’s rights, making your blog impossible ( legally) to be copied and distributed again on the Internet.

Blogging businesses will benefit from liability protection because of the risk of lawsuits for libel and trademark infringement. 

For example, if another blogger ( who has his blogging LLC), accuses you of copying his work, the law allows him to sue you ( as a person, not an entity – the business).

At this moment, since your blog is not considered to be a business, you can “pay” with personal assets, which means a total waste of resources for you.

So, it’s way safer to have an LLC.

Therefore, you should form an LLC when there’s any risk involved in your business.

Also, please note that you must maintain your LLC’s corporate veil, to keep your LLC protected.

Options for blogging businesses

LLCs are taxed as a pass-through entity, just like a sole proprietorship or partnership.

This means that the business’s net income passes through to the owner’s tax return.

Before moving on, please note that sole proprietorships and partnerships are taxed almost identically to LLCs, but they do not offer any protection.

The business’s net income is then subject to income taxes (based on the owner’s tax bracket) and self-employment taxes.

For blogging there are 2 options to consider:

  1. Hire an LLC service ( the agency will ask for a fee, and get your LLC formed)
  2. You can do it yourself, but be careful when signing sheets. ( Here is the Guide About Forming An LLC)

S Corp Option for LLCs

The S corp status allows business owners to be treated as employees of the business (for tax purposes only).

S corp tax status can reduce self-employment taxes and will allow business owners to contribute pre-tax dollars.

This status requires that the business pay the employee-owner(s) a reasonable salary for the work they perform. 

In addition, the business might need to spend more on accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services.

To offset these costs, you’d need to be saving about $2,000 a year on taxes.

A blogging business owner can benefit from S corp status if:

  • he can pay employees a reasonable salary
  • give around $12,000 in distributions/ year

Blogging businesses rely on consumer trust. Credibility plays a key role in creating and maintaining any business.

Blogging businesses gain trust by forming an LLC. 

Then, consumers are fully protected & their privacy is respected when navigating on a certain blog ( they are ensured that the business has unique features).

Also, to increase your blog credibility, you can add a section in your blog’s footer and place there your EIN/ Employer Identification Number.

EIN is primarily the number through which your business can be found & taxed by the state you are in.

There are many ways to make money online.

But how can you actually create a successful blog?

There are many blogs around the world.

What guarantees that your blog will be successful?

According to statistics, over 5.06 million blog posts were published today.


And that’s before I publish the article I’m writing now.

With so much content published daily, standing out with your blog looks like you’re shouting at a crowded football stadium.

At most, those around you will hear you.

However, if making a successful blog is a simple task, then most of the existing blogs are successful.

Which would raise the question again: how to make an outstanding blog?

Before you start reading this guide, I want you to consider one important point: success depends on many factors, but the most important of them is you.

Think about it, most people who published an article today will be demotivated tomorrow because they had no readers.

And most of them will give up writing one more.

Most of the blogs in the world are inactive and we can’t know if they would have been successful if their authors had continued their work.

Set clear goals in your mind and start thinking that success does not come overnight. In blogging, it can take years.

Very important before we start the guide: think carefully if you just want a blog or a website.

The whole strategy is different, even if the first steps are technically the same.

How to create a blog

If you want to start a blog, you must know that the key to success is perseverance.

Don’t be demotivated.

Follow the steps in this guide to create your blog, whether it’s a personal blog, a company blog, or a project blog that you believe in.

Step 1. Pick a niche for your blog


When you want to start making money from blogging, the first step is to decide which niche market your blog will target.

When deciding on a niche, make sure that it is profitable, that you can make money from it.

You also need to be knowledgeable about the subject to write articles.

Imagine having to write for months about a topic that doesn’t interest you and doesn’t please you.

Besides the fact that it will be a real torment and you will most likely end up giving up, the fact that you do not treat that subject with passion will be seen in the articles you write.

This is the first step when you decide to start a blog and it is a very important one, so don’t treat it superficially.

A well-chosen niche market will make your blog known in a shorter time and can help you achieve success faster.

Step 2. Choose your blog’s name

Choosing a name for your blog is always a difficult decision.

  • Which blog name to choose?
  • Where can you get inspiration from?
  • Which of the following options is best for you?

But how to come up with a blog name?

As I said, it’s not an easy decision.

And things get even more difficult when you realize that whatever you do, you can’t jump over this stage.

You must choose a blog name to create it and start writing articles on it.

When you choose a name for your blog, you have two options:

  • choose a domain name consisting of the keywords after which you aim to rank on google 
  • put your imagination to the test and you will find a name that will represent your brand from now on

Which is the most correct option?

Both are correct.

It all depends on what you want, what you set out to do.

Each variant comes with advantages, but also disadvantages.


With a keyword domain name, it may be easier for you to rank in Google by that keyword.

If at some point you want to change your business domain to one that has absolutely nothing to do with it, it will be very difficult to continue to use the old site for the new business.

Let me give you a concrete example, so you can understand what I mean: if you now have an online store with handmade jewelry called and at some point, you give up making handmade jewelry and you want to start organizing parties for children, you will not be able to use this site.

As a result, in this example, you should create a brand new site with a different name and start from scratch with its promotion.

So what to choose?

If you ask me what I would choose, I would say the second option: the brand.

Although a brand is harder to grow because no one has heard of it and it will take you some time (years) until people start to trust you and follow the advice you offer as an expert on your niche, once this brand is created, under its umbrella you can develop other businesses.

Step 3. Choose the platform for your blog


In general, blogs are made on the WordPress platform.

But not only blogs but also presentation sites.

Currently, 27% of existing sites on the Internet are built using WordPress.

The blog you are on now has been created on WordPress.

So, yes, I highly recommend you to use WordPress.

Using this platform you can create a site exactly the way you want it because there are a lot of plugins and WordPress themes on the market that can help you create your dream blog.

Step 4. Hosting

Your blog can be made using your domain name (in which case you have to buy the domain name and web hosting, which involves a small annual fee) or it can be created for free on the WordPress platform.

Which option do I recommend?

The first one. Why?

If you are seriously considering making money from the blog you are going to create, then consider the cost of your domain name and web hosting as an investment in your online business.

How much does it cost?

Well, prices range from $80 to a few hundred dollars per year, because it depends on multiple factors.

Assuming you chose the option I use and recommend it: buying your domain name; below I will show you how you can check if the domain name you thought of buying is AVAILABLE.


There is a good chance that someone else has already taken the domain name you thought you would buy. That’s because there are so many blogs on the Internet.

And this probability increases significantly if the variant of the site name you have chosen contains keywords.

If you have chosen an invented name or your name (BRAND) the probability that someone else has already chosen that site name is considerably lower.

So, think about 2-3 site names, so as not to be put in a difficult situation if the first option you have thought of is already taken.

Then check the availability of your blog name on the hosting provider’s website.

If .com is available, choose this one. If not, go for .net or .org because these are the most used.

Now that you have identified the available domain name, you know what to do: buy it, and let’s move on to the next step.

Step 5. The design


Ready. Finally. You can start writing articles on your blog.

And you write 1 article, 2 articles, and so on.

You still have to work on the settings in the site interface… but things don’t look the way you want them to.

You would have liked your blog to look completely different.


Everyone goes through this stage.

You are not alone. This is because your site needs a makeover after it has been created.

Will this “makeover” help you differentiate your site from your competitors?


You see, we choose our clothes according to fashion, or according to certain favorites when we want to leave the house, the same happens with our blog.

I recommend you also think about how you want your blog to look.

Step 6. Write quality content

You need to write quality content that your blog visitors will find useful and enjoy sharing with their friends through social networking sites.

In time, you will write many posts on your blog.

Some of them, the most successful, will remain among the most read, while others will not receive any attention from your readers.

If the information is quality, then you can turn this disadvantage into an advantage.

First of all, make sure all your posts are up to date.

For example, if you have promoted a product that is no longer available, replace the banner or link to that product with a similar product to continue earning money.

If certain information that you mentioned is out of date, you can update it so that it is still useful to your reader.

Another option, which is to provide the person who enters the blog with older articles for reading, can be put into practice using a plugin that shows at the end of the article a list of article titles similar to the one that your site visitor just read it.

Depending on how long a person has been visiting your site, you can tell if that person appreciates the information on your site. and it helps.

I create my content on this blog by applying the following 7 things:

  1. I use short paragraphs
  2. Introduce subtitles
  3. Try numbered lists
  4. Link only to relevant content
  5. Bold sections of your text in a strategic measure
  6. Use a table of contents
  7. Check the clarity of the message within your posts

Also, don’t forget about the title: a catchy title will get a higher percentage of people to read it.

Now that you know “the easy” part when creating a blog, let’s go at the most important point of this post.

Step 7. Gain backlinks


I don’t want to waste time explaining what are backlinks ( because you may already know).

I’ll show you strategies for gaining backlinks to your site as well as how to build them to please Google Search Engine.

First, please understand that the number of backlinks your site has is still one of the most important factors that Google takes into account when deciding which position to place your site in search results.

So, I advise you to pay attention because I’ll show you how to create as many links as possible that will lead to your site.


Avoid the temptation to create a ton of backlinks at once. All backlinks should look natural. As a result, the path you take must be one that you take in small, steady steps.

What do I mean by that?

Rather than creating 5 new backlinks per month for a year, rather than 60 backlinks in a week.

So even if I know it may seem tempting to buy from someone a service that offers you 1000 backlinks at once… resist the temptation!

This approach can harm your website A LOT!


To attract as many readers as possible to your site and get it on the first page in Google Search Engine, you need to get links from other sites from your niche, that lead to your blog.

There are a lot of ways you can get quality backlinks. Here are some actions you can take to get links from other people’s sites to your site:

  • Write guest post: In other words, offer to write free articles for other famous sites that address the same market segment as you. In exchange for the article you wrote, the administrator of that site will allow you to insert a link to your site somewhere inside the article.
  • Here’s my list with 164 sites ( with DA +70) that accept guest posting: 
  • Create accounts on forums and communities:  you have chosen and started linking discussions with members there and where appropriate insert links to relevant articles on your site or sign your site name.
  • Submit your blog to directories: You do not have to register your blog in all the possible directories that you can find on the internet. You can register it in the largest directories and that is more than enough. Here is the list with the best 21 Web Directories in 2021 that I truly recommend.
  • Find backlinks opportunities with top referral sources: You can start by looking at the top referral sources of your website. These are websites that are linking to your content and offering you a backlink. By finding out which type of websites link back to your site and the type of content they prefer, you can find new opportunities and create similar content to get a backlink.
  • Use outbound links to form partnerships: Another way of finding backlink opportunities is by looking at your outbound links. If you’re linking to a high authority website and sending a lot of traffic, you can send out an email outreach and form a partnership.
  • Publish Powerful/ Skyscraper content: When it comes to creating content, you can also produce skyscraper content to get backlinks. These are extensive guides on existing topics and are super detailed and could be as long as 10,000+ words. The idea behind a skyscraper content is to write a post that covers all aspects of the topic in detail and is better than the rest.
  • Use HARO: Getting links from news websites and journalistic blogs is like winning the jackpot. That’s because these websites have a high domain authority and getting featured there will also boost your site’s trust level. The best way to get a backlink from news outlets is through Help a Reporter Out. It’s a platform that provides journalists and bloggers with sources for news and stories.

How to grow a blog

It’s frustrating to start a blog, try to learn everything about SEO, web design, Social Media, what keywords to use and how to interpret data from Google Analytics without being able to bring more traffic .

1. The Lead magnet


You’ve probably heard of lead magnets before. If you listen to my advice and follow the second step below, then you can have so much traffic that you will not know what to do with it.

In essence, a lead magnet is a kind of irresistible bribe – giving a potential customer a specific piece of value in exchange for his contact details.

Lead magnets can have different names and shapes.

Some call them freebies, content updates, registration incentives, and more.

Also, lead magnets can be a checklist in PDF format, an e-book, a mini-video or email course, a 30-minute consultation, etc.

Regardless of the form chosen, to be useful and to have a very high value.

A 5-minute freebie tends to be more powerful when used as a content update, offered in blog posts – something I’ll talk about later.

Video or email courses are more effective if they are offered to a “cold” audience because they can “warm up” people and turn them into loyal fans.

In any case, a lead magnet should fulfill the following 3 aspects:

  • Address only the target audience
  • Solve a problem for your target audience
  • Produce long-term relationship with customers

So, how to create a lead magnet/ a high converting funnel?

Step 1. Note down on a paper a few, catchy ideas for your audience

Write down some ideas that you can easily put into practice and that can be understood in less than 5 minutes.

For example, create lists like:

  • “7 ways to improve your English ”;
  • “9 tools you should use for your website”;
  • “Learn the process to financial freedom in 3 steps”.

Write on that list as many ideas as you have.

Step 2. Questions and Surveys

If you have an audience (an email list), even a small one with 10 subscribers, do a survey or offer some free Skype calls from which to learn.

Also, join groups or communities on Facebook, twitter, and ask questions like, “Hello, eveyrone!” What’s the hardest part about blogging? ” or depending on your topics, whatever they may be.

Also, conduct surveys in various groups or communities through social media, online forums, with your email address, various other blogs / sites on the web that are on the same niche with you, by commenting on various online articles, through which ask people about the topics you want to address in your lead magnets.

Step 3. Write an outstanding title

Titles can create your lead magnet but at the same time they can destroy it.

Take some time to create a list of over 10 such titles, from which to choose the top three.

Again, do some surveys in different groups or communities, in which the headlines urge people to take action or get the most attention.

You may immediately receive some incredible suggestions from some wonderful people!

Just be careful to use the title that received the most votes!

Step 4. Highlight your content’s quality

Your content must fulfill the title’s promise.

For example, if you have a title like “7 Ways to Lose Weight”, make sure you can show people how to get lose weight!

This process should not take more than a few days.

Set a deadline for the time allotted for the completion of the entire project.

Step 5. The Sale Funnel

You will need a landing page, a thank you page, a download page, and some email marketing programs.

Another idea is to use WordPress to create these pages but if you want to have pages with a high conversion rate, you need tools like Content Builder.

I’ve already told about the sale funnel, but remeber this: A sale funnel should lead someone from point A to point B, not just a bunch of tips and tricks that you can find anywhere on the Internet.

2. How to reach out to influential bloggers


The mobilization of bloggers is based on a fairly simple idea that sounds like this: instead of sharing your content on social networks and hoping that it will be noticed by an influencer, offer it directly to the leaders in your space.

Whether you want influencers to share your content with your followers, whether you want a valuable backlink or a guest post, don’t randomly send a bunch of emails to influencers just to make your existence known.

A better plan than that is definitely needed!

Step 1. Think about who you want to contact

Identify the list of targeted bloggers – it can include 10-20 influencers.

Create a spreadsheet to easily and efficiently manage all influencers.

They must:

  • Be active in a particular group or community
  • Have a certain domain authority;
  • Have a good engagement rate on their blogs, such as comments and share.

Also, you should:

  • Check if influencers also accept guest posts
  • Exclude inaccessible influencers
  • Start with smaller influencers

Step 2. Make your existence known

As I said before, you don’t make your existence known if you send random emails to influencers, at least not at this stage of the process.

So, here’s what you have to do before contacting them:

  • Subscribe to their emails and join their groups
  • Read their articles, leave comments and share their blog posts. Don’t forget to tag them, let them know you. 

This whole process only takes a few weeks.

I only spend at least three weeks developing relationships, before moving on to the next step.

Step 3. Email outreach

You could use the following email outline: 

Hi [Blogger’s Name],

I just wanted to thank you for all the information you recently posted on [BLOG’s NAME]. (I really used the [STRATEGY] you recommended in [RECENT POSITION] and I had a lot of BENEFITS). I was wondering if we could benefit from each other, since I already the [ NAME] blog.

Thank you, [YOUR NAME]!

3. Guest posting campaign


If you follow carefully follow the steps above, you will be able to build a close relationship with some of these bloggers.

Again, don’t rush into this opportunity until bloggers respond to your messages or emails.

If they don’t answer, repeat the process until they do!

Only then do you have a chance at a guest posting opportunity on their blog.

I used this process and I can say that it works great!

I followed all the above steps and managed to boost my visibility in front of influential bloggers.

After all my “work” of distributing, commenting and appreciating the content of one of my favorite bloggers on the Internet, he asked me for a phone meeting on Skype.

This process takes a little longer, works wonders and brings incredible results! You have no reason to practice cold mobilization anymore!

It will be very easy for you to request an article and you will not waste your precious time with less productive things.

5. Pay-per-click to boost everything


This step is optional, so there is no need to follow it. However, if you do, you will speed up your success, you will have a greater reach and you will have ardent fans in no time!

PPC works great, the problem is that it costs money!

It can cost you a lot, especially if you don’t know exactly how to proceed.

If you don’t have time to mess with too much hard work but still accelerate your success, then create a great lead magnet and display some ads.

This way you will start collecting leads and you will increase your audience!

My recommendation is to wait until you get some steady traffic to your website by following the steps above.

Then create re-marketing campaigns with your ads!

Or, better yet, turn to an SEO agency that can help you with blog content (articles), attracting organic traffic, social media campaigns, email marketing and even interpreting data from google analytics.

What can you do when someone visits your blog and doesn’t sign up for any of your lead magnets?

Do you retarget it with the help of Facebook ads and make them even more fantastic?

Facebook ads are much more profitable than using PPC as the only strategy. They are much cheaper and tend to have a better conversion rate.

You need to install a Facebook pixel on your website to monitor people who have viewed your content but have not signed up for your list.

This will allow you to outline a personalized audience on Facebook and give people an update on the content of the post they have read.

So when you post a new article, you’ll be able to run an ad for this personalized audience.

This way you make sure that you promote your content only to interested people.

There are currently over 400 million blogs and the number is growing.

If you run a small or medium business, you’ve probably wondered if it’s really worth investing time or money into a blog for your business.
